Forever Fern
The new Annual Catalog includes several new suites, or collections of products, intended to work well together. This card utilizes the Forever Greenery Suite and I’m just loving this!
The card base is just Whisper White, but we have several layers here. The colors in my photo are not showing very well (I’m working on this), but there is a layer of Shaded Spruce peeking out, and then a layer of Soft Sea Foam, on which I have stamped lightly from the Forever Fern stamp set. Then you’ll see a narrow panel of Designer Series Paper from the Forever Greenery collection, matted again with some Shaded Spruce card stock.
You’ll notice some die-cut shapes in the next layers. The large, label shape Shaded Spruce is from the Stitched So Sweetly dies and the leaves are from the Forever Flourishing dies, which coordinates with this suite. The sentiment is also found in the Forever Fern stamp set. It’s just stamped onto Whisper White and cut out simply with my Paper Trimmer.
The inside of the card and the envelope front are stamped using the same stamped images and ink colors as the card front. The back flap of the emvelope (visible in the first photo, above) is first colored using a direct ink-to-paper technique with the Shaded Spruce ink pad. Then, a strip of the DSP is mounted to a Soft Sea Foam mat, adhered to the envelope flap and trimmed with Paper Snips scissors. Remember to coordinate your envelope and inside your card…it’s very special and “professional!” Also, don’t forget to add your “hallmark” on the back of your card. Every artist should take credit for their creativity!
Let’s face it, we’re all weird to some degree…right? But that’s what makes us wonderful! You just do you! Until next time, be Sweet and Spicy!
Sending Love Your Way card
Today’s card is simply elegant! It’s the simplicity that makes it beautiful, I think. The stamp set, “Posted For You,” is one that didn’t immediately catch my eye in the new 2020-2021 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog, but I have decided that it is quite versatile and easy to design pretty, quick cards with it.
It coordinates with the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch, which is such a fast way to cut out the images!
You could use the same stamp repeatedly in your design, or use several of the stamps on one card. Here, we’ve actually done both! You can see the “Love” stamp was used in a tone-on-tone fashion on the background piece. And each of 3 featured images is punched out of Very Vanilla card stock and popped up on Dimensionals. It’s difficult to see in the photos, but the images are shimmering with the addition of the Wink of Stella pen.
The “Love” stamp was also used on the inside of the card, as well as the envelope (visible in the first photo). Subtle details to make everything coordinate nicely.
Just for fun, to make a more masculine card, I dug out a retired Stampin’ Up! set, called “Beyond Plaid.” The “Happy Birthday” sentiment is still from the “Posted For You” set. I think this came out really well and is a tailored, masculine look for the birthday guy on my list! The Basic Gray and Very Vanilla are the only 2 colors on these cards. A very easy beginner card, but with great appeal that you can feel great about sending to your recipient!
It’s so easy to be kind and, when we are, it raises everyone up!
Until next time, be sweet and spicy!
