Hello world!
Welcome to Stampin’ Ginger! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by and hope you will find some creative inspiration – and will return often! I have lots of experience with papercrafts (card-making, scrapbooking, gift packaging) and I also enjoy other creative pursuits when time allows.
I was previously a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for several years and I am now returning since my children are grown (can we say “empty-nest?”) and I am ready to be your Creative Coach once again! Although our children have left the nest, our 2 Golden Retrievers keep us busy as if they were children!
So, let’s dive in with a card idea I have to share with you….
This is a “fun fold” card, meaning it has a little more interest than your basic card…Let’s call this a “Window Z-fold Card.” You’ll see in the next few photos what I mean. This card actually features 2 stamp sets, “Happiest of Birthdays” and “Lovely You.”
From this angle, as the card lays flat, you can get a little peek at that fun fold. A window has been cut into the front of the card using the largest of the Stitched So Sweetly scalloped rectangle dies. Then the inside, cut-out piece is used as a mat for the focal sentiment stamped onto Whisper White card stock.
So, now you can see the secret! The inside piece of Whisper White card stock is like a smaller card, adhered to the inside of the Misty Moonlight card, only facing the opposite way. A fold down the center of the white piece provides movement and a place to mount the front focal piece. In order to do this, close the “window” front of the card, with the white piece folded inside. Apply adhesive to the white card showing through the window – only on the right, the folded part that is visible. Now, fit the Misty Moonlight scalloped rectangle (with the stamped focal piece centered on it) into the window it was cut from. You will be adhering only the right side/back down!
From here, the recipient of your card can gently pull that white flap to the right, to reveal the inside message in the card! It’s a simple construction, but does provide the “wow” factor! This card design could easily be adapted to different stamped images and colors, and embellishments added – it would have a completely different feel!
From this shot, you can clearly see the construction of the card.
